Prez Says for May 2023

Welcome to May, the month of Mother's Day and Memorial Day!  I hope you and your family will have a delightful Mother's Day celebration and a great Memorial Day Holiday.

On May 2nd at the North Bellevue Community Center, our General Meeting program will be "Backups in a Busy World" presented by Mark Schulman. This will be a hybrid meeting.  Given enough time, every hard drive eventually fails, and most often, this means that all your photos, documents, and video -- everything! -- is lost. And recent evidence suggests that even under the best circumstances, hard drives don't last as long as previously thought. Backups are the only defense against serious data loss, yet most people don't bother. So instead, discover essential strategies to ensure your data is safe with the least amount of trouble.  With longer days and shorter nights, we hope to see you in person at our General Meeting soon.

Do you have questions about one of your computer devices or software?   Join Leader Andy Peck at 6:00 PM on May 2nd for our Tech Corner, a hybrid meeting.

If you want to learn more about Linux, visit Steve Herber at our Linux Special Interest Group hybrid meeting starting at 6:30 PM on May 9th.

Don't forget to drop in on Sally Ann at our Zoom Digital Imaging Special Interest Group Meeting at 7:00 PM on May 23rd.  May's Theme is Favorite Things to Photograph.

Our next Auction will be in June.  We request that you bring your donations to an in-person meeting or have them picked up by May 1st.  Please contribute only working computers, flat panel monitors, and peripherals.  No motherboards or components.  Most of us are no longer building computers.  Any software must work with Windows 10 and up.

To keep up with technology, visit https://www.techforsenior.com to learn about their Monday morning meetings (9:00 AM PT), their Newsletter, and their Facebook page.

Have you forgotten to pay your KEGS dues?  Please download the KEGS dues renewal form from our website (https://www.kegs.org) and send it with your check to the PO Box listed.  Thanks for your renewal.

We welcome visitors!  I look forward to seeing you at our meetings soon.
