Prez Says for April 2026

Welcome to April, the month of Easter, Tax Day, and the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. In good weather, a trip to the tulip fields can be enjoyable.

On April 7, we will have our Tech Corner and General meeting via Zoom.

Our General Meeting program will be "Windows 11 Secrets, Fails, and Fixes You NEED to Know" presented by Hewie Poplock. The discussion focuses on Windows 11 features, frustrations, and practical ways to make everyday computing easier. Topics include whether popular Windows 11 changes have actually improved the user experience, the pros and cons of widgets, tabs in File Explorer, Phone Link, startup apps, OneDrive, and several customization tools for Windows power users. The group also explores how certain Windows features can affect performance, including transparency effects, animations, and unnecessary startup programs, while sharing tips for improving speed and usability. The session also features a lively exchange of real-world advice from attendees, including how to use Phone Link for texts, calls, and verification codes, how to save cleaner copies of web pages with Print Friendly, and how AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini can extract text and links from screenshots. Additional discussion covers internet speed testing, router-based testing, organizing files and folders more efficiently, and managing default save locations in Windows and browsers. As always, the meeting blended demonstrations, questions, and shared experience to help Windows users better understand their computers and work more confidently.

Please join us for this interesting presentation.

To prepare for an Auction in June, we need a covered space to sort and store donated items.  Do you know of a garage space we could rent for one day only on the first Saturday of June, 2026?
