Volume 27, Issue 1

Welcome to January and New Year's Resolutions!  I hope that you and your family have a happy and healthy New Year.

When inclement weather (such as snow/ice) causes the Bellevue School District to close, the North Bellevue Community Center closes for events/meetings and only serves as a warming center.  If we have snow or ice on Tuesday, January 3rd, please check to see if the Bellevue School District has closed.  If that happens, we will only meet via Zoom instead of having our usual hybrid meeting.

On January 3rd our General Meeting program will be "Quantum Computing" presented by KEGS Member Andy Peck.  This will be a brief introduction to quantum computing and the basics of quantum mechanics associated with it.  Persons not familiar with quantum physics/mechanics may find these concepts “mind-blowing”, but the 2022 Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded to three scientists who proved one component of it.  The goal of Andy's presentation is awareness, with many hyperlinks in the PowerPoint file for those wishing to learn more. Please join us for this informative program.

The Tech Corner, General Meeting, and Linux SIG are all now hybrid meetings with growing attendance. The Digital Imaging SIG has opted to continue with Zoom meetings only.  Be sure to check the KEGS Calendar https://www.kegs.org/calendar for updated information about our meetings.

It is time to pay your KEGS dues.  Please download the KEGS dues renewal form from our website (https://www.kegs.org) and send it with your check to the PO Box listed.  Thanks for your renewal.

We always need more members, so please let others know about the informative meetings we have monthly and all of the free help we offer.  Please check the KEGS Calendar for dates and times of meetings.  We welcome visitors!

To keep up with technology, visit https://www.techforsenior.com to learn about their Monday morning meetings (9:00 AM PT), their Newsletter, and their Facebook page.

Plan to attend an APCUG Wednesday Workshop or Saturday Safari via Zoom.  Because KEGS is a member of APCUG, all KEGS members can attend for free and are notified via email about these events.

If you are in the market for a Windows 11 computer, post-holiday sales of new and refurbished laptops offer good deals.  I am waiting until next year to retire my Windows 10 machines.

I look forward to seeing you at our meetings soon.
