You are invited to the Rain Coast Regional Conference

As most of you already know, twice each year the Association of PC User Groups (APCUG) holds a conference in conjunction with Comdex. Usually, only two key officials or volunteers from each member user group are invited. This international event usually attracts 250 or more User Group officers to participate in the roundtables and sponsored events of the week. Sponsored events include meals and special events where the costs are covered by a major vendor or other sponsor. Roundtables include discussions on topics like dealing with newsletter format, vendor relations, Web sites, legal issues and many other topics. Some great (and not so great) ideas have sprung from these discussions.

The Comdex events are limited in participation, so Rain Coast '99 will bring an event of this caliber to the User Group officials and key volunteers of the greater Pacific Northwest area. (Including the Pacific Southwest of Canada.) The conference will take place October 8-9, 1999 at the West Coast Bellevue Inn, Bellevue, Washington. Sponsored special events include a vendor exposition Saturday evening and a tour of the Microsoft Museum for individuals who arrive before 2:00 PM on Friday the 8th. Roundtable discussions will be held Saturday morning and afternoon. A keynote address will be delivered at the Friday evening event (see Schedule for details).

Who’s invited?

All officers and leaders of general interest groups, so-called umbrella groups, Special Interest Groups, any group that centers around something to do with computers. Also, key volunteers in appointed positions. Anyone in your group that would benefit from the experience of other User Group leaders.

What is the cost?

The registration fee is $30 (in US funds). Registration fees are for the conference organizing and operating expenses, and include for the first time an official RainCoast T-shirt.

The West Coast Bellevue Inn has made a special rate of $89 US per night, with a rate of $81 for attendees from Canada (again, US Funds), depending on your preference of room types.
